Description
Socrates believed in something he called the Theory of Forms in which Beauty (among other things) was its own entity and not relative to anything else. Beauty is intrinsic.
We may see beauty as relative to color or shape, or we may see it as a way to separate an object from its surroundings. Different cultures and eras have differing ideas about beauty based on aesthetic appeal but also on morality, social mores and standards.
Llamas uses the woman in a burqa to question our ideas of beauty. Do we think she is beautiful? Why?
