Home decor in 2019 is all about reclaiming your space with bold accents, playful functionality, and large and meaningful artwork. 2018 segued us toward a braver boho, curved furnishings, and statement art to name a few.

Here are 5 home decor trends in 2019 we are excited about:

  1. Bold Colors

This year will be all about adding back in those pops of colors to your home for a real treat. According to to Elle Decor, the formula to keep from a color overload is 90% white with a 10% add of color. In 2019 we will be seeing jewel tones incorporated in home decor, such as emerald green and dark teal. Think electric and edgy, and a little goes a long way.

  1. Maximalism

Though a thoughtfully put together gallery wall still has a place, in 2019 we welcome larger art pieces that are ready to claim some real estate on our walls.  Opt for a piece with some texture to it for an eye-catching statement.

  1. Naturalism & Biophilia

Natural elements and live plants will make a strong return in 2019. Materials such as stone, concrete, wood and plant-life bring an organic atmosphere into the home. Floral patterns, greenery, and artisanal light fixtures are also natural elements that can make a home authentic and welcoming. Organic and lush live plants bring new life to a space (literally). Think about bringing the outside in.

  1. Memphis Design

The Memphis design movement is gaining rapid growth for home decor trends this year. The style is more about smooth curves rather than sharp edges and corners.  With regard to furniture, home decor in 2019 is a bit of an ode back to the 80’s, but with an elegant edge and softer colors. Lighter, more feminine colors such as burnt yellows and pale pinks among curved edges are balancing out the bolder home decor trends for 2019.

  1. Elevated Boho

Boho just matured into its best self, mixing both modern and vintage for a cleaner, bolder look in 2019. Boho remains young and fresh, playing with layers of rugs and corner hammocks. This year the difference is a brighter, modernized take.

Incorporating these home decor trends in 2019 will be sure to reclaim your space for a more comfortable and productive you in the new year.

Love this list! My favorite is the naturalism and biophila! I am in the process of actually trying to combine the live plants within an elevated boho look. It definitely gives you a fresh feel to the room!

I think you are right about opting for a piece with texture. I need to get a designer to improve my living room layout. I want it to seem more open.
